The Steinberg Agency, Inc. is a full-service literary agency formed in 2007 by Peter Steinberg. We work with our clients to maximize the potential of their stories at every step of the publishing process. We represent clients for their careers, not for a single work. The Steinberg Agency’s clients have written many bestselling books and have been nominated for/awarded Edgars, The Pulitzer Prize, The Story Prize, The Paris Review Discovery Prize, PEN/Faulkner and National Book Awards.

Bios

Edward Graham

Edward has worked for The Steinberg Agency since 2010. His interest in publishing began with an editorial internship at Algonquin Books, which he completed during his senior year at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After he graduated in 2010, he moved to New York to pursue a job in publishing. Edward misses the gentle North Carolina winters, but is very pleased to be working at The Steinberg Agency. Edward will give most types of fiction a chance so long as the writing is clear, thoughtful, and achingly beautiful, but will happily consider memoirs and other non-fiction as well.

Lisa Kopel

Lisa has been with The Steinberg Agency since it opened its doors in 2007. She began her career in publishing as an editorial assitant at Pantheon Books right after graduating from Brandeis University. Lisa also worked in advertising and promotion for Vintage Books and then moved on to Farrar, Straus and Giroux. After taking some time off from the book world to be a high school English teacher and then a full time mom, she is excited to be back. Her interests include narrative non-fiction, memoir, and both commercial and literary fiction.

Peter Steinberg

Peter represents a broad range of novels and short story collections and the occasional YA title. His non-fiction interests include memoir, humor, biography, history, pop culture, fitness and narrative non-fiction. Peter worked for eleven years as a literary agent at a number of high profile boutique literary agencies before forming his own company. Peter began his career as a filmmaker and screenwriter with a B.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts’ film school. He is a member of the Association of Authors’ Representatives.
